What's the difference between woven and embroidered patches?
add
Woven patches are built on a jacquard loom. The design is the fabric, made from interlaced polyester yarn. The surface stays flat and sharp, so fine logos, small text and tight icons read cleanly even at 30mm. Embroidered patches stitch thick yarn on top of a twill base, creating a raised 3D texture that suits chunky icons and traditional crests but blurs small type. For a biker rocker with detailed lettering or a school crest with fine work, woven wins. For a bold club logo where you want physical relief, embroidered is the traditional choice.
Should I choose a merrowed border or a laser-cut edge?
add
Merrowed borders are the classic biker / scout / military look: a raised, overlocked yarn rim around the patch edge that adds a visible frame and prevents fraying. They only work on simple shapes: circles, squares, shields, rectangles. Laser-cut edges are precision-trimmed flush with the woven surface, no extra border, which lets us follow complex outlines, asymmetric logos and modern minimalist shapes. Heritage brands and motorcycle clubs almost always pick merrowed; streetwear and tech labels usually go laser-cut.
Will a woven patch survive being on a leather jacket for years?
add
Yes: that's exactly what woven patches are designed for. Because the design is interlaced polyester yarn (not ink printed on fabric), there's no surface layer to scratch off, peel or fade in sunlight. A sew-on woven patch on a leather jacket typically outlasts the leather itself, riders routinely show us 20-year-old club patches that have been transferred from one cut to the next. UV exposure may slightly soften high-contrast colours over a decade, but the threadwork stays intact.
Can woven patches be heat-pressed onto motorcycle leather?
add
Iron-on (heat-activated) backing works well on cotton, denim, polyester and canvas, but we do not recommend heat-pressing directly onto leather. Leather warps and discolours above 110°C, and most iron-on adhesives need 140°C+ to bond. For leather jackets, vests and cuts, always order sew-on backing and let a tailor stitch the patch through the leather (or onto a removable patch panel). For motorcycle textiles like Cordura and waxed cotton, iron-on or sew-on both work; for tactical vests, hook-and-loop velcro is the standard.
What's the MOQ for custom woven patches?
add
Our minimum is 1,000 patches per design. Loom setup and the merrowed-border thread carriage mean per-patch cost improves as volume climbs and holds the ₹16-₹18 price band. Riding chapters, scout troops and school houses typically order 1,000 and up at a time.
How many yarn colours can a single woven patch hold?
add
Up to 8 yarn colours per design on our standard jacquard looms: enough for most club logos, scout crests, heritage brand marks and uniform badges. Background, primary, secondary, outline, plus 4 accent colours is typical. If your artwork has more than 8 colours we'll send back a flattened proof showing how shades will merge, so you can decide before approval. For photographic art or unlimited colour, look at our printed patches instead.
